Fair Trade Update

The Eco-Schools Club has wanted to do more for Fair Trade for some time, in addition to the termly chocolate sales! This year a steering committee has been formed, with members from throughout the school community, and the first steps have been taken on the path to Hounsdown applying for Fair Trade Schools status. This means that we promote Fair Trade goods where possible and that we learn more about Fair Trade issues in our lessons. We would like more members of the school to become involved in this project so if you are interested in making Hounsdown, and the world, a better place, come and talk to Abbey or Tia about helping.

After meetings with the Governors and Mrs Turvey the go-ahead
has been given for us to try and make Hounsdown a Fair Trade
School.
As a result of this invites were sent out and our first meeting was held on the 28th of June. We put together a draught policy of things that we are aiming to do.
We are hoping to raise more awareness throughout the school so be prepared for Fair Trade to become a bigger focus both in and out of lessons.
