The Secret Garden Project
This year the secret garden has been a main focus for eco-schools. The garden has been developed constantly throughout the past year and now includes a Bug hotel, wild flower meadow, recycled benches and many
homes and feeders to attract surrounding wildlife. The new flower beds have encouraged lots of local wildlife such as moths, butterflies and mice to build homes in the garden , the Eco –School team have worked hard on the plans for the garden and will continue to develop it over the coming months.

Despite the very dry weather in the spring, most of the 400 plus plants that we planted have settled in well and the garden is already showing a great deal of colour. The first set of seats using recycled concrete has been completed, which will provide habitat for a variety of insects and plants, and the ‘arches’ made using an old tree that we had to cut down are already being used by a number of plants as a growing support. 30 hedgerow plants have been added to the boundary and the wildflower ‘meadow’ is already attracting a wide number of insects and butterflies, and this is only the first year! We have also been successful in being able to work with the Learning through Landscapes organisation again this year, which brings some funding for the work we want to do next year including putting in a pond and creating more flower borders.
